A passionate and accomplished Central Arrernte man, Darryl is focused on providing his clients the tools, guidance and support required to achieve their goals and make their dream reality.
Darryl was a member of the negotiation team for the original
Native Title Act 1993
and Indigenous Land Fund Act with the Keating Government. This led to his specialisation in the facilitation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) and native title claimant meetings, resulting in the authorisation of over 50 ILUAs across Australia. With a total value including compensation, training, business development and procurement opportunities in excess of $1.5 billion.
Darryl was also the key driver behind the 51% shareholding in Peter Kittle Motor Company and in the purchase of the three IGA supermarkets in Alice Springs which are owned 100% by the native title holders of Alice Springs. Darryl was instrumental in developing and building the Mount John housing estate in Alice Springs which was 100% developed by Aboriginal people.
Trevor brings decades of lived experience, high level personal, professional capability to the Indigenous business, community development, and stakeholder engagement space. Originally born in Alice Springs with Southern Arrernte and Gurindji cultural backgrounds.
Trevor’s passions are Indigenous capacity building, business and economic development, and community empowerment for self-determination. Trevor advocates a developmental approach as against compliance which requires growth and strength based mindsets as against deficit thinking and practice.
Trevor has an honours degree in Economics, completed an Advanced Diploma in Leadership & Management, holds Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, trained coach, mentor and facilitator. Trevor comes equipped with proven, practical tools and approaches to address or help with wide-ranging business and community organisational needs.
Trevor is a member of AIATSIS's research ethics panel and co-authored a recently published book "Transforming Indigenous Higher Education: Privileging Culture, Identity and Self-Determination". The book is a critical history of the first 20 years of operation of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies at Curtin University in Perth WA, which he helped establish and served as the first Head of Centre.
